The waters in and around Seil are a European Area of Conservation and an area of National Scenic Beauty, rich in wildlife and home to one of the worlds largest whirlpools at the Gulf of Corryvrechan.

The island of Easdale is accessible by a ferry from Ellenabeich (passenger ferry only). There are no cars or roads on Easdale, but a very nice pub, The Puffer bar and restaurant and a thriving community. View from the bridge over the Atlantic

Mull is one of the best kept secrets on the west of Scotland - it offers castles, spectacular beaches, breathtaking scenery and many opportunities to see rare birds and wildlife - whilst it is also home to the colourful painted houses of Tobermory, where the children's tv programme Balamory is filmed.

From Mull, it is a short drive to the Isle of Iona, a tiny jewel in the Atlantic steeped in history, where St Columba first landed and brought Christianity to Scotland in 563 Ad. A visit to the famous Abbey and a walk to the north end of the island, where the stunning views and colours have seduced innumerable painters, including the Scottish colourists, is a must. From Iona, it is a short boat trip to the Isle of Staffa - which boasts a magnificent basaltic rock formation similar to the Giant's Causeway and the impressive Fingal's Cave, as well as being home to an impressive array of seabirds, including the charismatic puffin.

View from Cottage
It hardly ever rains on Seil, but if it does, The Haven is equipped with - in addition to the satellite TV - a large range of childrens videos and feature films, childrens toys, puzzles and games and a library of books. Families should have plenty to do indoors if the weather plays up, although for many just relaxing and taking in the breathtaking view will occupy much of their time.
